Christopher Emmanuel "Chris" Paul (born May 6, 1985) is an American professional basketball player of the Los Angeles Clippers in the National Basketball Association (NBA). Standing around 6 ft 0 in (1.83 m) and weighing 175 lb (79 kg), he has started specifically at the position of point guard. Paul has won the NBA Rookie of the Year Award, an Olympic gold medal, and brought the NBA in assists three times and steals 6 times. He's also been picked to seven NBA All-Star teams, six All-NBA teams, and 6 All-Defensive teams.
Paul was a McDonald's All-American in high school. He attended Wake Forest University for two years of college basketball when he helped the Demon Deacons reach their initial ever number one standing. He had been elected 4th all round in the 2005 NBA draft with the New Orleans Hornets and traded into the Clippers in 2011.
On December 8, 2011, the Hornets agreed to a three-team deal sending Paul to the Los Angeles Lakers. A NBA, which owned the team at the time, nullified the offer, along with commissioner David Stern claiming New Orleans would be better off keeping Paul.The teams involved in the trade attempted to negotiate the league to reverse its ruling and reconstruct the offer to no avail.On December 12, the Hornets accepted a trade sending Paul for the Los Angeles Clippers, nonetheless the deal broke down after the NBA added additional needs to the authentic terms. Two days further, the teams now formed the trade, sending Paul and two future second stage draft picks in the Clippers for Eric Gordon, Chris Kaman, Al-Farouq Aminu, plus the Minnesota Timberwolves' unprotected first round pick inside the 2012 draft. After the deal's completion, Paul announced that he could opt to the final season of his agreement and stay for Los Angeles for about two more seasons.
